Summer in San Diego

Summer in San Diego

We've made it through "May Gray" and "June Gloom". Summer in San Diego has arrived!

Summer is here and things are getting busy! It feels like the summer days before COVID – tons of tourists, bad traffic and lines for everything, but it’s good to see businesses thriving again, and everyone out enjoying our amazing weather and all there is to do here. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Here’s a couple of my favorite things…

The Magic of Paragliding Above the La Jolla Beaches

When I first discovered the Torrey Pines Gliderport, it was immediately one of my favorite places. Even without being airborne, it’s one of the best places to view the San Diego coastline. Flying has always been a passion of mine, so learning to be a paraglider pilot and taking up this sport seemed like a no-brainer. To date, it’s one of my absolute favorite things to do, and something I recommend to everyone who doesn’t have a crippling fear of heights or flying. There really is nothing like it!

Beaches - Dozens of 'em!

As a photographer, I enjoy photographing the coastal landscapes and everything going on at the beach as much as I do indulging in all of it all myself! On this particular day, there was a surf camp full of kids learning how to surf, which naturally delivers some interesting shots.

The activity and lifestyle of making the most of the outdoors will always be central to my photographic efforts, but it’s at the coast where I feel most connected and grounded.

  1. Fantastic pictures as usual, Steve! Glad the weather finally stepped up! Hope you have gotten some paragliding in too! The pictures of the kids learning to surf are awesome!🌊🏄‍♂️

    1. Thanks Jenny!

You bet I flew, for about two hours. It was a pretty perfect day. I forgot to mention in the article what a spectacle the sharks were on Saturday! I spotted several large great white sharks but some of the tandem pilots who fly all day saw up to nine of them!

Absolutely beautiful pictures! Thank you Cousin for pushing me to try flying and getting me hooked. It proves you can be afraid of heights and still love it!!!! We share so many things that we truly love and nature and the beach is definitely at the top of the list. Love the stories and the pictures always makes me remember our times together there especially. Look forward to many more!

Keep taking those amazing shots…. you make so many of us smile.
